This utility updates the Sony Reader (PRS-505) system software to version 1.1.00.18040 and provides the following benefits:

• Support for EPUB file format
• Support for Adobe Digital Editions 1.5 or later with Adobe DRM-protected content
• Enables text with PDF eBooks to be "reflowed". This will enlarge the text and improve the readability of text-based PDF's
• Improvements to 'Sync' functionality
  • Enable to 'Sync' to external Memory Card
  • Enable to select a "File Folder" and set it as a "Favorite" to sync
• General fixes to improve stability and performance

*Note: Users who already have the eBook Library installed can update their firmware and eBook Library versions by accessing the "Check for Updates" function under the Help menu in eBook Library.

*Note: This utility is only for use with the products identified above and sold in the United States or Canada. Not all models are sold in all countries.

1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
2. Download the PRS-505 Updater 1.1.00.18040.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference.)
3. Connect the Sony Reader to the computer with the supplied USB cable.
4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PRS-505 Updated 1.1.00.18040.exe file to begin the installation
5. AWARNING: Do not disconnect the Sony Reader during the update process.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
   NOTE: The Sony Reader will automatically restart during the update process.
7. After the software update is complete, an 'Update Completed' message is displayed.
8. Click the 'X' to close the update utility
9. After the Sony Reader restarts, and the Reader displays an update complete message, the installation of the Sony Reader (PRS-505_ Update is complete.

• Device must be fully charged before updating.
• The software update process takes about 3 to 4 minutes.

• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
